The 1/171 AVN is stationed out of Dobbins ARB. A Co. contains the
Aircrew, and D Co. contains the Maintenance Dept. They are currently deployed in
Iraq and the overall objective of their mission is
medivac, troop and cargo insertion/transport. They recently arrived in country and will be on station for
approximately one year.
Over the past few years the 1/171 AVN has supported us in Cadet O-rides
at various functions throughout GA Wing and Group 3. Their
professionalism, patriotism, and enthusiasm for the job is contagious,
and it shows in their willingness to work with and fly our members.
Now, it is our turn to give our support to our 1/171 AVN
friends. A suggested list of items include, but not limited
to:
Beef Jerky, Hard Candy, Baby Wipes, Deodorant, Soap, Powdered Drink Mix, Magazines with no compromising pictures of women
(hunting, fishing, cars, motorcycles, firearms). No liquids can
be sent! Generally speaking anything that is in good taste and
would bring them comfort from home.
Additionally, they would very much appreciate personal, hand written, letters and notes.
Inside the Squadron Building is a large "wooden" box, in which you can
put your donated items. We will be sending these donated items
about once a month. Please start putting your donations in
the box as soon as possible.
