NOFRAMES stuff Land Navigation Course Weekend

Here is some updated info concerning the Pine Mountain land nav course.  Sign in will be at the Liberty Bell Pool area in the park at 1900hrs.  Right now the plan will be to leave the Squadron building by 0700hrs.  We will take the van, if we need more room POV's will be added.  In addition to the list below you will also need 1 blue chem light and 1 green chem light in addition to the 2 red chem lights.  I would recommend bringing extra chem lights one of each should be fine.

Below you will find two links one for a map protractor and one for a compass.  Both are reasonably good deals and if you order now you will have them in time for this exercise.

Sep 23-25  there will be a Land Nav course at Pine Mnt State Park.  If you can only attend one event these two months I would highly recommend this one.  It will be taught by a former Recon Ranger,  Maj. Savage (GA-098)  who has vast knowledge and experience in Land Navigation.   For this event you will need your 101 card with GES qualification.  GT training status IS NOT REQUIRED.  This event will be conducted like a FTX (field training exercise) which means you will be given classroom and field training.  And for your comfort  24/72 hr gear is recommended but not required.

The following minimum is required to attend:

Good compass (preferably Cammenga)
notepad and pencil
map protractor
2 red chem-lights
1 flashlight w/red lens
hydration (camelbak or canteen) 3L minimum
Food that is self contained, like MRE's or Granola Bars, that requires very minimal preperation
Warm Weather Sleeping Bag
2 or 3 person Tent
Complete CAP BDU uniform and ID per regs.
Completed CAPF-60

24/72 hour gear would be ideal if you have it or can get it, but keep in mind, what you bring you will have to carry.

All interested members please respond so that we may plan accordingly (NLT 01SEP11).
